Do the right thing – boycott USA multis
Against
terrorism, beyond the concept of multinationals’ fault, for the overthrowing of
the neo-liberist cartel
The
USA keep on accumulating mass destruction weapons – and they employ them as
well. They unloaded depleted uranium on Yugoslavia and Irak, napalm on Vietnam,
and the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Recently, they retreated
unilaterally from the 1972 ABM treaty, and adopted a military doctrine that
admits a preventive nuclear attack.
They possess large stocks of bacteriological weapons, and in july 2001 in London, and afterwards in november 2001, in Geneve, they boycotted every and each attempt by the international community of signing a treaty for the control of these weapons.
Why
spoil your own reputation, if you are not planning to use these weapons, if
only to threaten?
The
USA have no right to decide who’s got the right to possess weapons of mass
destruction.
We say
no to terrorism, and therefore no to the policy of the current USA government.
We act because the world nations, joined together in the UNO, are unable to
take steps and apply sanctions against such policy.
We
do not hate the USA, because hating is no use. We want to help ourselves and
America, by giving strength to the democratic part of it.
Because
the first leadership to be overthrown today is the american one.
Because
the key paragraph of USA hidden agenda is oil, and it is located in others’
countries territory. It is oil we must think about when we hear them speaking
about fighting terrorism, it is for its sake that the USA and the CIA are
hoping for, and giving rise to, an outbreak of terrorism. That’s why, whatever
may happen with regards to terrorism, we must not allow anyone to drag us into
any war, but revolt against those who are looking for it in every possible way.
Because
we cannot bear to see Iraq, a cradle of great civilizations, impoverished and
destroyed, and its people starved out by the USA embargo, as it’s been
happening for twelve years already and would continue to happen, regardless of
another attack taking place or not. Because the United States will recur, as
ever, to the intentional bombing of civilians, a method they consider the most
effective for winning their wars – there’s always ready the excuse of the
“collateral effects” anyway.
Because
the United States demonstrate usually their military might (and show off their capability
of threatening anyone without consequences) for the sake of their economy. This
shared interest is what reproduces the military-industrial complex.
Because
the USA, bearers of the greatest responsibility for the environment’s
destruction, and the country producing the 50% of the world emissions in the
atmosphere, are the only country in the world that refused signing the Kyoto
protocol.
Because
the USA blackmail poor countries in order to boycot the attempts at signing
international treaties, the way they did with the one on biodiversity at
Johannesburg.
Because
America today cares about nothing but its “national interest”, even when it
unloads “aid” from a plane.
Because
many in the USA think they are different from the others, and to have more rights
than the others, and the claims for exemption from the international court
stand to demonstrate this.
Because they make use of
their control over the media to prevent people from knowing the truth about
what happened on 9-11.
For the theft of our money,
since the UK government, in january 2001, has signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with the USA over the development of the Joint Strike
Fighter (JSF) programme, originally an american project, and we are tired to
support others’ domination.
For Echelon.
Because
had it been not for USA pressure, democracy would be different today all over
the world, as the last fifty years of italian or latin american history have
taught us.
Because
the United States are one large multinational company, their name and flag –
brands.
For
all this and more, we, citizens of the world, boycott the USA multinationals.
We will force the multis,
the core of american national interest, to rise against the policy of their
leadership, that they all funded. Because no other talk can it understand.
These
companies have no special fault; we don’t want to punish faults, we want
to use the only strategy that can truly strike the USA and lead them to
understand and change their way.
Had
the “fault” been our leading criterium, many corporations from many other
countries would be to be held responsible of more misdeeds than the ones named,
and, besides, the faults of many other multis are inextricably tied to those of
the companies we boycott. In fact, the criminally aggressive policy of the
american leadership does not just fulfill the interest of the multis of its own
country, since the western economic system is based on a cartel of interests.
But then, it is exactly to break this cartel that we are attacking only a part
of it. There was an especially interesting project of critical consuming
circulating in Italy some time ago, according to which, to force petrol
producers to lower the final prices, the brands should be divided into two
groups, arranged in an arbitrary way (provided the choice was the same
for all buyers) and one should refrain from buying, from time to time, the
brands belonging to one of the groups, until the competition is restored.
This
is also the reason why we renounce to boycott other countries’ multis that have
shares of american capital, and we’ll concentrate on USA multis even if other
countries’ governments will say “yes” to Bush as for the participation in a
military attack.
We
should not be afraid for the people, living in the third world, who work for
american multinational companies: these people will find jobs in smaller
industries which will develop at once as the market will settle again, or in
other large companies which will increase their production rate and sales
proceeds.
If you
fear to bring America towards a war by putting it in a crisis, remember that in
the last year, notwithstanding a deep economic crisis, it expended more than
300 billion dollars in weapons, an all-time record. The point is, America must
achieve a change of paradigm, an economic doctrine in which war will not
be the basis of the creation of wealth, as it happens today. We are well aware
that war is the greatest business of all, we are well aware of the euphoria
with which the stock exchange reacts as soon as aircraft carriers start heading
to the umpteenth “rogue country”.
We‘ll have to be careful: they’ll try to have us believe the effect
achieved is negligible. Actually, no company – not even America Ltd. – can
stand losses of more than few per cent points, given that other companies will
seize those market shares at once.
They’ll
tell us in every way, and from every media, that the participation is minimal.
We won’t swallow it.
Then
they’ll start lowering the prices, but only temporarily, and if we’ll buy again
their products they’ll be applying the old prices again soon. If we persist, on
the contrary, all the cartels, that only USA authority can keep together, will
fall apart, and the prices will drop for real – and, maybe, the political
change we badly need will happen.
It won’t be absolutely
necessary to boycott the whole of these brands – this would be objectively hard
to do. In fact, the primary target is the image of american production. In
other cases, and especially in the lack of worthy alternatives, it will suffice
to limit our consumption in general.
Our
interest is at the opposite of theirs, let’s remember it.
May your work be fruitful.
